RE:GENESIS: TRANSFORMED BY RECONCILIATION

Genesis 33 shows Jacob as both changed and unfinished. After wrestling with God, Jacob now faces the brother he once wronged. Instead of wrath, Esau receives him with unexpected grace, and Jacob responds with humility, repentance, and restitution. Yet Jacob is still a mixed man. He goes first in courage, but still arranges his family with hints of favoritism. He moves toward obedience, but still deceives Esau and stops short of Bethel. Jacob is Israel, but Jacob is still Jacob — a picture of the already/not-yet reality in every believer. God’s grace truly transforms us, but our obedience remains incomplete. That is why we need Christ, the perfectly obedient Son, whose righteousness covers our failures and whose love will not let us go.
