RE:GENESIS: SOWN IN REJECTION
Genesis 37 begins Joseph’s story with rejection, betrayal, and apparent defeat. A broken family breeds resentment, God-given purpose provokes greater hostility, and envy escalates until Joseph’s brothers throw him into a pit and sell him into slavery. Yet beneath the surface, God is governing every detail. What the brothers intend for evil becomes the very path that moves Joseph toward God’s purpose. While Jacob mourns what he believes is a dead son, Joseph is already being positioned in Egypt for future deliverance. Joseph’s story ultimately points to Jesus—the beloved Son rejected by His own, sold, handed over, and brought low, yet through His suffering bringing salvation. Rejection may change our circumstances, but it cannot cancel God’s purpose.
