RE:GENESIS: TRANSFORMED BY GOD’S PRESENCE

In Genesis 28:10–22, Jacob is running from the consequences of his own deception. Alone, exposed, and leaving the promised land, he stops for the night with only a stone for a pillow. But in that lonely place, God meets him. Jacob sees a stairway from heaven to earth, revealing that God is not waiting for Jacob to climb up, but is graciously coming down to him. God confirms His covenant promise, assuring Jacob of His presence, protection, and faithfulness. Jacob wakes in awe, realizing, “Surely the LORD is in this place, and I did not know it.” The hard place becomes a holy place. Through Jesus, the true stairway between heaven and earth, we see that God’s presence still finds us, goes with us, and changes us.
