RE:GENESIS: CALLED TO SURRENDER (GENESIS 22:1-19)

Apr 12, 2026

Called to Surrender from Genesis 22 walks through Abraham’s test to reveal what true surrender looks like. The Father is asked to give what he loves most, and the son willingly obeys, carrying the wood and submitting in trust. At the critical moment, God provides a substitute, and Isaac is spared—showing that surrender leads to God’s provision. But this story doesn’t end on that mountain. It points forward to a greater reality: a Father who actually gives His Son, a Son who fully obeys, and a Lamb who is truly provided. Unlike Isaac, Jesus is not spared—He is sacrificed in our place. As we come to communion, we remember that what was previewed in Genesis is fulfilled in Christ, calling us to surrender in response to His sacrifice.
