RE:GENESIS: CALLED TO COURAGE (GENESIS 14:1-24)

Genesis 14 shows us what faith looks like when God’s promises are real but not yet fully realized. Abram models a faith that fights when it doesn’t have to, risking himself to rescue Lot even though the conflict wasn’t his responsibility. He then displays a faith that doesn’t take when it could, refusing the spoils of victory so no one could mistake God’s blessing for human gain. Just when the story seems complete, Melchizedek appears—a mysterious priest-king who reveals that Abram’s faith is anchored in something far greater than land, wealth, or reputation. Abram bows because he trusts a future he cannot yet see. In this moment, the spotlight shifts from Abram’s heroism to God’s eternal plan, pointing us forward to Jesus—the true King of Righteousness and King of Peace, who reigns forever.
