ARRIVAL: THE CHURCH WHO PROCLAIMS (John 1:19-34)

Dec 28, 2025    Greg McGhee

In “The Church Who Proclaims” (John 1:19–34), we see John the Baptist model the true calling of the church. When questioned about his identity, John begins with clarity: “I am not the Christ.” He understands his role is not to save, but to prepare the way and point others to Jesus. John humbly confesses his unworthiness, magnifying the worthiness of Christ alone—the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. This Lamb is not only for Israel, but for all people, calling the church to be both a clear witness and a faithful guide. As followers of Jesus, we are challenged to remove obstacles that make the way to Christ harder and instead live and speak in a way that directs others toward Him. The church exists to proclaim, “Behold the Lamb.”
