THE KING WE BELIEVED IN: EASTER SERIES: THE KING (1 Samuel 16:1-13)
In Israel’s story, David became the king they believed in. Chosen by God, victorious over giants, and celebrated by the people, David represented hope after Saul’s failure. But when David fell into sin, the impact was devastating—not just for him, but for the entire nation. His failure brought confusion, division, and heartbreak to the people who had placed their trust in him. Israel learned a hard truth: even the best king cannot carry the weight of ultimate hope. We face the same struggle today when we build our faith on leaders who eventually fail. But David’s story doesn’t end in despair—it points forward. God promised a King from David’s line who would reign forever. Jesus is that King—the one who never fails, never falls, and is worthy of our full trust.
