RE:GENESIS: TRANSFORMED IN EXILE
This sermon traces Jacob’s exile in Genesis 30:25–43 as a pattern for God’s people throughout redemptive history. Though Jacob is away from home under Laban’s authority, God makes him fruitful and prepares him to return. Israel would later experience the same pattern: living in Egypt as exiles, multiplying under pressure, and being prepared by God to enter the promised land. As citizens of heaven, believers also live as sojourners in a foreign land, called to serve faithfully and bear fruit while longing for home. Ultimately, Jesus fulfills the pattern. He left the glory of heaven, entered our exile, accomplished the Father’s work, and returned in glory. Because of Christ, we can flourish here—not by building a life around exile, but by investing in people who will be our joy when He calls us home through His redeeming grace.
